In the heart of Whitby's old town, The Nook is located in the tranquil White Horse
Yard with its interesting and historic buildings. This charming cottage
was originally built in the 16th Century and has been lovingly restored to offer the best
of old and new. Beneath beamed ceilings and in the shadow of Whitby's magnificent
13th Century Abbey you can find all the comfort and amenities
you could want for a truly enjoyable stay.
The Nook really is a beautiful cottage offering luxury accommodation. Our guests
have given us such positive feedback, commenting on how much they love it and
returning to stay with us time and time again. This sort of feedback really does say it all.
Luxurious, stylish and comfortable accommodation for up to six people. We
have two double bedrooms - one with a beautiful oak sleigh bed, the other
an attic room with views of the Whale Bones and Captain Cook's monument.
There is also a children's room with full sized bunk beds and its own TV, VCR,
video selection, Playstation 2 (and games), board games and books to help keep
the younger members of your party amused.
Comfortable and spacious L-shaped lounge and dining area with beamed ceiling
and patio doors that lead out onto an enclosed private courtyard. This room
also features an LCD television, Satellite TV (Sky), DVD player and DVD
selection. The dining area provides seating for six with a wonderful "Flagstone"
table and high backed leather dining chairs.
Separate, fully equipped modern kitchen overlooking the patio area.
Bathroom with thermostatic shower and bath.
Private and enclosed patio area, ideal for a leisurely breakfast or an
evening glass of wine.
The Nook is just a few hundred yards from the sheltered beach at Tate Hill Sands set
within the harbour walls. The main beach, which leads all the way to Sandsend, is also
just a short walk away. Church Street itself hosts the best of Whitby’s many jet jewellery,
curio, souvenir, antique and art shops.
Quiet and peaceful, The Nook is situated in one of Whitby's historical and beautiful old
yards leading off Church Street. The cottage’s location, whilst close to amenities, could
be a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. You won’t be
disturbed by traffic noise in this area as the old yards, that are the backbone of old
Whitby, are vehicle free offering a true sense of the olden days. However, there is ample
parking close by which we can direct you to if required. Thanks to this tranquil setting,
it really is a Nook in name – and in nature...
